APCCC was founded in 2007 with the goal of uniting African communities to protect, preserve, and restore their environment for the benefit of the future generations. Set up by 23 African participants of the International Advanced Training Course in Sweden, APCCC is incorporated in accordance with the laws of Malawi, Tanzania and Uganda.

APCCC facilitates local level climate change awareness and empowerment, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable requisite adaptation measures to enable local communities cope with impacts of climate change.
